The Bihar Education Department has introduced the Bihar School Free Dress Scheme to all state government school students. Under this program, the government used to provide students in grades 1 through 12 with an annual allowance ranging from Rs 600 to Rs 1200. However, the money was being used for other projects by the student’s family. In light of this, the Education Department has released a new notice stating that pupils would henceforth get ready-made school uniforms rather than cash. The Bihar Board will give stitched dresses rather than cash to children in classes 1 through 12 starting in the next school year 2024–2025 as part of the Bihar Free School Dress Scheme.

In place of money for dresses, first through 12th-grade students enrolled in Bihar state government schools will receive ready-made garments for the 2024–2025 academic year. About 1 crore 61 lakh pupils attending government schools are expected to get free uniforms under the terms of the Bihar Free School Dress Scheme. Up till now, kids in classes 1 through 12 were provided up to Rs 1500 per year under the Bihar School Fee Dress Scheme. However, that will no longer take place. With the recent modification, students will no longer receive payment for their uniforms.
